Facebook is a trip (but you probably already knew that)

So my curiosity finally got the better of me. I punched in all my coordinates and now I'M ON FACEBOOK!!! It's quite a trip! I'm not sure why I held out so long or what I was worried about -  maybe I just needed to feel like I knew who I was before I started being reminded who I've been - but regardless, I'm enjoying reconnecting with old friends immensely.

I've gotten a handful of blast-from-the-past snapshots, including this one from my friend Parlan from a play we performed at the NY Shambhala Center in honor of the passing of the Tibetan Buddhist teacher Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. In the play, which was written by Trungpa and kind of pokes fun at religious and specifically Buddhist zealousness, this ridiculously eager-minded meditation student (played by moi) keeps trying to get everything just so, do every ritual exactly right, and iron out all the kinks in her understanding of the teachings. But a salt-of-the-earth farmer sets her straight. "I just get up early and do what needs to be done." Sage advice. Thanks for the pic (and the reminder), dear Parlan.
